First memory of skiing?

When I was three my mother used to teach me on a little 10 foot hill at the base of Big Tupper Ski Area. She’d carry me up and then run down before my skis started coasting just in case I couldn’t make the necessary left turn. Then the following year, I recall the excitement of being told that tomorrow I could ride the big chairlift. That was something special.

If you could go skiing for only one more day where would you go and with who?

I would choose to go to the Eastern Sierra and ski some granite lined couloirs near Bishop, CA.

Where might people spot you in the 13-14 winter season?

In 2013-2014, I will be skiing most frequently at Squaw, in the backcountry around Lake Tahoe, and accessing deeper zones by snowmobile. I’ll also be traveling around the west coast, giving talks about the importance of longevity in skiing as well the importance of avalanche education for kids.
